“In 20 years, we will only be allowed to drive independently with a special permit because we are the greatest risk as humans.” – Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, 2017

Within the study, the MRK looked at the effects of autonomous driving on the parking infrastructure of the future in various domains (rural, highway, suburban, urban). Initially, the study investigated which driving functions of conventional, automated and autonomous driving have already been implemented and are likely to be implemented in the coming years. In this context, the MRK identified key technical, legal, social and political factors that could promote or hinder the introduction of autonomous vehicles.

Expert surveys and interviews conducted by the MRK support the contents of the study with statements from industries that have a strong influence on autonomous driving and parking, or are strongly influenced by it.

With the help of the description of a best-guess scenario, the MRK presented the future content-related effects of the introduction of automated and autonomous driving functions for the domains examined.

The short, medium and long-term potentials arising from the activities for the client were derived and discussed together with the client.

MRK advises and supports its clients on many current topics and challenges: Automated and autonomous driving, big data, smart data, digitalization, electromobility, Car2Car and Car2 communication, intelligent transport systems, attractive and efficient public transport and much more.
