As part of the BMVBS-funded research project “Development of a public transport ITS architecture in Germany incorporating European ITS guidelines with public transport relevance”, a framework architecture for intelligent transport systems (ITS) is being developed for the public transport sector. The German ITS framework architecture for public transport is intended to create an open system environment that is transferable to all regions and players and to set up system networks with integrated functionalities.

Technical, organizational and financial hurdles can thus be overcome more easily, making existing boundaries between companies, modes of transport and networks less perceptible to customers. This will reduce barriers to public transport access and can be expected to lead to an increase in demand for public transport and efficient networking with the IT systems of the IV.

Under the consortium leadership of the MRK, the team is developing a model for Germany. The consortium partner is TransVer from Munich.
