Salesians of Don Bosco
Over the centuries, various massive upheavals and experiences have necessitated change and constantly given rise to something new. Today, the Benediktbeuern monastery is once again facing upheaval. A continuous decline in the number of members of the order, high investment costs in the monastery’s building stock and increasingly scarce financial resources will present the monastery and its affiliated institutions with organizational and financial challenges in the coming years.
In order to develop perspectives and goals for long-term safeguarding and strengthening, the Salesians of Don Bosco commissioned a “Benediktbeuern Monastery Master Plan 2025ff.” which is intended to help develop and secure the monastery, with its great importance for the church and society, as a spiritual center and Salesian place for education, encounters and culture – especially for young people – in the long term.
The master plan was developed by MRK in the period from December 2013 to June 2015. An important milestone was reached with the initiation and compilation of the master plan. The focus of the master plan development was on the fields of action of significance for the region, nature conservation and the position within the Catholic Church, the analysis of the overall facility with regard to its organizational structures, service portfolios, profitability and contractual situation, the analysis of the building stock and the energy situation of the monastery. The direction is set by the jointly developed and agreed mission statement for the coming years. The visions, goals and measures defined in the master plan are to be realized by 2025.
