With this expansion, the municipality of Handewitt—located on the Danish border—aims to establish a comprehensive and forward-looking fiber-optic network. Through the construction of 110 km of right-of-way, the installation of 755 km of fiber-optic cable, and the establishment of 33 new technical sites, approximately 640 underserved buildings within the “white spots” are to be provided with broadband service. To carry out the expansion, the municipality is awarding three specialized contracts. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2020.
