The Erding district has commissioned MRK to provide consulting and planning services for 11 participating municipalities in accordance with Section 3.3 of the BMVI guideline “Funding to Support Broadband Expansion in the Federal Republic of Germany.”

As part of the consulting services, the technical feasibility and potential for cooperation regarding NGA deployment are assessed. The services provided in this context correspond to the model service description “Feasibility Assessment Based on a Study.”

In accordance with the federal guideline, the economic viability of a broadband expansion is analyzed. The results will determine whether the economic viability gap model or the operator model will be applied. In the preliminary phase, a decision will be made in consultation with the decision-maker regarding which municipalities in the Munich district the consulting and planning services should cover.

Next, a recommendation for action will be developed based on the expansion option devised for the selected project areas. All documents required to apply for infrastructure funding from federal and state sources will thus be prepared.

In the meantime, all participating municipalities have been promised infrastructure grants from the federal government and the Free State of Bavaria.
