Client: Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG (KVB), Cologne

MRK is supporting Kölner Verkehrs-Betriebe AG in preparing for automated depot operations at the Porz and Nord bus depots. The consulting contract includes analyzing route and vehicle movement data, designing the handover points between manual and automated operations, and defining the requirements for the depot management system (DMS) and the barrier systems. In addition, concepts for positioning technology are being developed, including a GNSS effectiveness analysis and a needs assessment for supplementary sensor systems. To incorporate the operational perspective, MRK is conducting structured surveys in the fleet operations and in the workshop. The goal is to establish a robust foundation for further implementation planning and the solicitation of bids for the automated depot processes.
