As part of the FTTB master plan—which includes an assessment of the current Internet infrastructure, a cost estimate, and various scenarios for the subsidized, comprehensive FTTB expansion—a decision-making guide is being prepared for the city of Leonberg regarding its potential membership in the “Gigabit Region Stuttgart” regional association.
In addition, the city of Leonberg is provided with options for connecting individual areas and buildings through the “Special Call for Industrial Parks” and the “Special Call for Schools and Hospitals.” As part of the special funding programs for schools and hospitals, expanding schools in line with the school network plan makes sense. This involves creating a basic network and installing infrastructure for future expansion at the same time, thereby saving on civil engineering costs. Regarding the eligibility of industrial parks for funding, additional businesses can register as underserved, thereby securing eligibility for individual industrial parks. A subsidized expansion of industrial parks yields the same synergy effects as the special program for schools and hospitals.
Furthermore, MRK Media AG advises the city of Leonberg to install empty conduits in accordance with the master plan during upcoming construction projects in order to avoid the need for civil engineering work at a later date.
